What is the best Practice to improve MDIS performance in setting up file aggregation and chunk size

Hello Experts,

 

in our project we have planned to do some parameter change to improve the MDIS performance and want to know the best practice in setting up file aggregation and chunk size when we importing large numbers of small files(one file contains one record and each file size would be 2 to 3KB) through automatic import process,

 

below is the current setting in production:-

 

Chunk Size=2000

No. Of Chunks Processed In Parallel=40

file aggregation-5

Records Per Minute processed-37

 

and we made the below setting in Development system:-

 

Chunk Size=70000

No. Of Chunks Processed In Parallel=40

file aggregation-25

Records Per Minute processed-111

 

after making the above changes import process improved but we want to get expert opinion making these changes in production because there is huge number different between what is there in prod and what change we made in Dev.

Auto Import Process Not Working Correctly.

HI All,

 

I am Trying to set-up auto import process for SAP MDM 7.1.  I have completed the following activity and still i am not able to get the process right,  Can any one suggest where am i missing ?

 

1) I have Created the Remote System With Type Inbound

2) I have Created Port with Type Inbound and attached the Remote System and Import Map to this Port.  Processing type is Automatic, Block on Structural Exceptions has value set to "NO" and in staus i have value as HAS DATA. Fomat selected in this port is Excel.

 

Repository is Up and Running, file is already present in MDM Inbound Folder of this particular Port.

 

I have manually changed the Username and Password in MDIS under this particular reposity as

Username = Praful

Password - Admin

 

Above Password is used for logging into repository and so it matches

 

MDS, MDIS and MDSS are up and running.

 

The type of file i am trying to import is excel.

 

Can any one telll me if i have missed any step and if not then what may be the reason that i am not able to start the auto import process.

Syndicate vendors to different ERP R/3 systems

Hi,

Could someone please explain to me how I get a vendor record syndicated to two or more ERP systems?

I'm using the SAP content vendor repository and IDOC CREMDM04, ADRMAS and CREMAS.

SAP told me that it is not possible to map to segment EDI_ DC40   and then I got the following instruction:

 

You mentioned in your message, that you need to map the remote system into the field RCVPRN.

Actually you don't have to do this, because this syndication is going toa specific remote system, which is SAP ERP Remote System.

You can check it in the "Map Properties" tab.

And also Syndicator gives the possibility to override it, there is an option in the Map Properties tab called "Remote Key Override".

So it means, that you do not need to map the remote system at all.

And this is how Syndicator was designed.

 

I have created key mappings for two remote systems and in "Map Properties" "Remote Key Override" I have filled in the two remote systems. But when I execute the syndication I'm asked to fill in the file path on the server and the file name, so I only get the IDOC send to one system. We use the FTP and File Network shares (File Adapter) integration to PI.

can MDM import server to send email if there's any error during import

I am not able to create repository in MDM 7.1

Hi SDNers,

 

I am not able to connect to database from my Comsole.

 

When I tried to unarchieve or create a new repository it will ask Database name, User id and password then only I can enter repository name. When I enter Database name, user id and Password I am getting an error like "Unable to connect to Database Server".

 

Already I checked these from my end.

1) I checked Database is up or not. Database is up and Running.

2) I tried to logon into database with the user id I am trying in Console. At Database level I am able to login. But when I tried in Console to connect to database I am not able to connect to Database server from concole.

3) I tried changing the password at mds.ini file and restarted the MDM Server also. But still error remain same.

 

Can anyone help me out why I am getitng that error "Unable to connect to Database Server". I need to add any parameters in mds.ini file. or I am missing any connections parameters

Structural Exception During Auto Imports In MDM

Hi All,

 

We are facing a problem while auto importing bulk data.

System is throwing structural exception and preventing data from importing automatically.

Is there any way that we could identify which segment in XML is causing this structural exception?

Also if we try to import data manually by loading the XML file, system throws a message "Unknown Exception".

Is there a possibility that some data in XML will be causing this problem?

Hello,

 

We need to know about governance and data management, from this week I am working as master data coordinator in Empresas Polar (Mass Consumer Products Industry), where the role of this function is to assure the creation and maintenance of the master data, as initial activities we are raising statistics to know the most important information of the master data in all SAP modules, and the idea is across own developments in R/3, Portal, Workflow and Tools that exist on the market to simplify Update of the information on the part of the user, we know that in SAP the information is created in different views or transactions, which makes very difficult the opportune update of the data.

 

I am interested to know about MDM or any tool/application which eolud help us,

Portal check out record does not check in when MDM workflow is active

Hi Experts,

 

We are using portal as front end for the MDM material creation/update.

 

when a user tries to edit a material via portal, the record is checked out in mdm and once the record update is done and submitted that particular record will be checked in. this is normal process and automatic in nature till date.

 

However, we have created a simple workflow in mdm, we havent checked out records in start step of workflow.

So it normally executes without check out /in via MDM Workflow.

 

workflow triggerring action = record import, record update, record add.

 

when i edit the material vai data manager WF triggers fine and all is well.

 

However when i edit the material via portal, record is checked out (which is normal) and once record is submitted, the workflow in mdm is triggered successfully.

 

Workflow ends with all necessary syndication's and validations and ends successfully, But after this the record still remains as checked out? ???

 

ideally as mentioned above (in bold) once the user completes editing the record and submits it, the record should be checked in, but this is not happening!!!

 

 

Please let me know why is this happening.

 

Please help.

SAP MDM 7.1 SP8 Workflow Step Properties does not appear in Visio 2010

SAP MDM system is currently in SP8 which supports Visio. Unfortunately, step properties does not appear in Visio 2010. Already followed instructions in Data Manager. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks!

MDM Repository not Connecting after Server shifting

Hi,

 

Here We have SAP MDM 7.1 06 on Windows Server 2008 R2 with Oracle.

 

Recently we have shifted our MDM Server from 1 Data Center to Another Data Center, After this change MDM Instances started successfully.

 

 

1st Problem:

 

Now the problem is, i am  not able to connect repository (Error is:  Repository connect failed, Invalid Object State).  After i mount the MDM Server in console, repository not connecting.

 

2nd Problem:

 

when i right click on MDM Server in Console, even i am not able to connect Databse in DBMS Setting (Error is:  Unable to connect with Database server).

 

Need Help to fix this issue at the earliest.

 

Did some searches on net and sdn forums but couldn't get right solutions.

Repository not loading--Urgent

We have 4 repositories mounted in a server. Two are loaded and running. But we are unable to load the other two repositories. When we click on Load, no action takes place. Can you please help us ASAP.

Please Help :: Import Map works in SP10 but doesnt in SP11

Hello Experts,

 

 

I have an import map which works perfectly fine in SP10 but doesnt work in SP11.

 

All the configuration options + mappings + matching modes are exactly the same in both the systems..

 

But really dont understand why the map doesnt work.

we used the same source file in both the systems.

 

When we press the execute button it throws an error as...

 

16376 2014/09/29 11:04:22.714 GMT Import failed. One or more field values are invalid

Source file: xyz123.xls [1].mdb

Import action: Create

Source record no: 1

MDM Registration in SLD

Hello All,

 

I need to register MDM system in my PI 7.1 SLD, so i need to know, i should be doing this by adding as Standalong system type option or can i also do it with SLDREG?

 

I did read a note # 1018839 regarding SLDREG and as per it.."The "receiving" SLD must be at least Release 7.0. If an old SLD (for example, Release 6.40) receives an "sldreg" data package, it writes the

following error to the SLD log: ERROR". So i think this also applies for MDM system?

 

So can anybody please advice..how exactly should i be doing this?

MDM 7.1 installation

Hello guys.

 

Currently I am installing MDM in an existing SAP System (SAP EP 7.4, Oracle 11204) and I am getting the following error:

 

SAP system <SID> exists and is not suitable for this installation option.

DIAGNOSIS:Valid instance types for this installation option are MDS,MDIS,MDSS,MDLS, but instance SCS53 has a different type.

SOLUTION: Choose a different SAP system ID or uninstall the existing system

 

Can somebody help me please?

MDM Data Manager Filtering with other fields

Hi Everyone,

 

     Would it be possible in MDM Data Manager to set-up 2 fields and that are somehow dependent of each other?

 

     As an example, let us say i want 2 dropdown fields:

 

     1. Category

     2. Choices

 

     What i want is that when someone selects something from the Category Field, the entries for Choices field would vary depending on the Category chosen.

 

     Ex. When the user selects Coffee for the Category field, i want the Choices field to show Starbucks or Coffee Bean. and when the Category becomes Food, it would show Burger King or Mcdonalds.

 

 

     So far what i was able to do is that the Choices field displays all possible entries for all Categories.

 

     Please advise on the proper set-up needed for this. Thank you!

Read MDM Destion Name Dynamically

Hi Experts,

 

My Requirement is to read/Connect to MDM Destination Names dynamically using web dynpro java, may be some sort of service which read destination names which are configured in NWA CE 7.3 portal

 

Any input will be highly appreciated.

 

PS: Don't want to read the value using Properties file.

What is the major difference between XML files & Flat files. which has advantage of each??

 

We use flat files to syndicated data, now i want to use XML files. Could you guys guide me please?
